They are fully reef safe and will not harm any coral, clam, or ornamental invert. They are peaceful as juveniles, but adult females tend to be territorial. Luckily, they don't require much room, so they work well in nano size aquariums. Thanks to their outgoing nature, they're just as comfortable and entertaining in a large tank.

Clownfish can be kept as singles or pairs in tanks as small as 30 gallons, or in groups in larger tanks. All clownfish are born genderless, then the most dominant in the group will transition to a female, and the next most dominant becomes the male. It's recommended to add multiple clownfish to the aquarium at the same time to prevent aggression, since two female clownfish will not coexist in the same aquarium.
