Name: Aiptasia-Eating Nudibranch
Scientific Name: Berghia stephanieae
Maximum Length: About ½–1 inch
Favorite Things: Stable reef parameters, gentle flow, and plenty of Aiptasia anemones to hunt. This nudibranch is a specialist predator—it eats ONLY Aiptasia and nothing else, making it one of the most effective natural pest-control options for infested reef tanks. They work slowly but methodically, feeding at night and multiplying as long as Aiptasia are present.
They are completely reef-safe and will not harm corals, fish, or inverts. Once Aiptasia are eradicated, they require relocation or will starve.
Best Buddies: Perfect for peaceful reef tanks. Safe with clowns, gobies, shrimp, snails, wrasses (with caution), and most community reef fish.
Avoid: Predatory wrasses, dottybacks, large peppermint shrimp, and hawkfish—these may eat or harass the nudibranch.
