Maximum Length: About 2.5–3 inches
Favorite Things: Planted community tanks with moderate lighting, stable water, and plenty of algae to graze on. Known for their shimmering red, blue, and gold patterning—resembling the U.S. flag when the males are in full color. They thrive on algae wafers, spirulina-based foods, frozen brine shrimp, and biofilm.
Best Buddies: Works well with peaceful community fish such as small tetras, livebearers, and corydoras. Avoid long-finned tankmates, as males can occasionally nip during breeding displays.
