Favorite Things: Freshwater or brackish aquariums with plenty of hard surfaces for grazing. An exceptional algae eater that removes diatoms, film algae, and green spot algae from glass, rocks, and decorations. Nicknamed the “Batman Nerite” for its distinctive dark shell with ridged or horned edges resembling a bat silhouette. Completely peaceful and won’t reproduce in freshwater.
Best Buddies: Ideal for all peaceful freshwater setups—great with shrimp, tetras, rasboras, livebearers, and corydoras. Avoid loaches or puffers that may nip at shells.
