- Promotes growth of beneficial bacteria
- Helps reduce ammonia and nitrite over time
- Easy to clean and long-lasting
Beneficial bacteria are the key to a healthy aquarium system as they effectively remove toxic ammonia and nitrite from the water column. Improve the good bacteria count in your aquarium by adding bio rings to your filter. They are great for use in canister filters, hang on back filters, sumps and more. The shape and porous design of these rings is intended to maximize the amount of surface area for beneficial bacteria to live and for water to flow freely through the rings.
1 bag of bio rings weighs 1lb 2 oz (500 grams)
For optimum efficiency, it is recommended to clean your bio rings every 1-3 months as needed. To clean, simply rinse in dechlorinated or tank water until debris has been loosened and removed.
Great for Beneficial Bacteria
Biological filtration refers to the beneficial bacteria and aquarium plants that consume toxic nitrogen chemicals generated from fish waste, thus purifying the water. Because beneficial bacteria grows on any surface area in the tank that is well-oxygenated, the filter is a primary location to boost the population. Biorings have lots of porous surfaces to serve as “housing” for the bacteria colony.
Easy to Clean
Aquarium gunk can cover these surfaces over time, so clean the bio media every 1-3 months by gently waving or rinsing it in old tank water until the debris falls off. Our bio rings come in a pre-sewn mesh bag that is easy to remove during filter maintenance.
