Favorite Things: Soft, warm, slightly acidic water with plenty of hiding spots—caves, driftwood, leaf litter, and dense plants. Enjoys a varied diet of high-quality micro pellets, frozen foods (brine shrimp, bloodworms), and live foods for best condition and coloration. Known for its striking dark facial mask, blue-purple iridescence, and bold tail markings.
Best Buddies: Peaceful for an Apisto, best kept as a pair or harem. Ideal tankmates include tetras, hatchetfish, pencilfish, corydoras, and small peaceful community fish. Avoid larger or aggressive cichlids.
