Chocolate Gourami

A distinctive Southeast Asian labyrinth fish with a rich chocolate-brown body crossed by pale cream/gold vertical bands. Unlike common gouramis, Chocolate Gouramis are a specialty soft-water species that do best in warm, acidic, low-mineral blackwater conditions. They are peaceful but relatively delicate, so they're better suited to experienced aquarists than beginners. The Wet Spot recommends keeping them in groups and notes their preference for acidic blackwater environments.

Minimum Aquarium Size: 10 gallons; 20+ gallons preferred for a group

Diet: Frozen baby brine, daphnia, chopped bloodworms, small live foods, and quality micro foods.
