Description

The Escondido Carpintis Cichlid is a striking Central American cichlid prized for its intense green and blue spangling and heavy-bodied, muscular appearance. Compared to standard Texas cichlids, the Escondido strain is often noted for denser coloration, thicker pearling, and a more aggressive personality.

This species grows large and territorial, especially as it matures. Juveniles may coexist with other robust cichlids, but adults are best kept in large, carefully planned cichlid systems or as a bonded pair in a species-focused aquarium.
