The Venustus Cichlid is a large, predatory Malawi cichlid known for its bold giraffe-like patterning and impressive adult size. Juveniles and sub-adults display striking yellow coloration with dark blotches, while mature males develop intense blue faces and more pronounced coloration.
Venustus cichlids are ambush predators by nature, often lying still before striking at prey in the wild. In aquariums, they become dominant, territorial fish that require ample space and strong filtration. Medium-sized specimens are ideal for hobbyists upgrading from juveniles but not yet ready for full adult aggression.
