Dinosaur Senegalus Polypterus / Senegal Bichir

An unusual prehistoric-looking freshwater predator with an elongated armored body, distinctive dorsal finlets, and large paddle-like pectoral fins. Senegal Bichirs are hardy, fascinating fish that spend much of their time cruising along the bottom but regularly surface to breathe atmospheric air. They are generally peaceful toward fish they cannot swallow, but small tankmates should be considered potential food.

Minimum Aquarium Size: 75 gallons

Diet: Sinking carnivore pellets, frozen shrimp, krill, bloodworms, chopped seafood, worms, and other meaty foods.
