Scientific Name: Strombus alatus (also known as Strombus pugilis)
Maximum Length: About 3 inches
Favorite Things: Sandy reef substrates and open areas of the tank where it can burrow and graze. Eats diatoms and nuisance algae, helping keep the sandbed clean and oxygenated. Peaceful, hardy, and excellent for maintaining long-term reef health. Fun to watch as it “hops” around the substrate using its muscular foot and long eyestalks.
Best Buddies: Completely reef-safe and compatible with peaceful fish, corals, snails, and shrimp. Avoid predatory crabs, triggers, or wrasses that may nip at its eyes or siphon.
