Scientific Name: Aplocheilus lineatus
Maximum Length: About 3.5–4 inches
Favorite Things: Quiet, well-covered aquariums with floating plants and gentle to moderate flow. These surface-dwelling killers (but peaceful by nature!) have a shimmering gold metallic body with bold eyes and a curious personality. They thrive on floating pellets, flake food, and frozen brine shrimp or bloodworms. Excellent jumpers—tight lids are a must.
Best Buddies: Peaceful with similar-sized community fish such as barbs, rainbowfish, gouramis, and larger tetras. Avoid very small fish like neon tetras or guppy fry, which may get eaten due to their surface-hunting instinct.
