The Mexican Red Hermit Crab is a hardworking and colorful member of any marine aquarium clean-up crew. Recognized by its bright red legs and constant scavenging behavior, this small hermit crab helps control nuisance algae while cleaning leftover food and detritus from rocks and substrate.

Native to the Pacific coast of Mexico, these hardy crabs are reef-safe and well suited for reef tanks and fish-only marine aquariums. They spend their day grazing on algae, diatoms, and organic debris, helping maintain water quality and keeping your tank surfaces clean.

Mexican Red Hermits are generally peaceful but should always be provided with extra empty shells. Like most hermit crabs, they will occasionally upgrade shells as they grow and may bother snails if suitable shells are unavailable.
