Red Sea Coral Pro Salt – 200 Gallon Bag
Red Sea Coral Pro Salt is a premium reef salt mix formulated with elevated and biologically balanced levels of calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity to support coral growth, skeletal development, and overall vitality. It is specifically designed for mixed reef aquariums, LPS and SPS systems, clam aquariums, and coral frag grow-out systems where demand for foundation elements is high.
The 55 lb commercial bag produces up to 200 gallons of saltwater and is an economical choice for larger reef aquariums, frequent water changes, coral propagation systems, and high-consumption reef systems.
Elevated Foundation Elements
Coral Pro Salt contains elevated levels of the three primary foundation elements required for coral calcification:
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Carbonates / Alkalinity
These elements are maintained in a balanced ratio designed to support the formation of strong aragonite coral skeletons while reducing the need to adjust calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity immediately following a water change.
Designed for Accelerated Coral Growth
Unlike standard Red Sea Salt, Coral Pro is intentionally formulated with foundation elements above natural seawater concentrations.
At approximately 35 ppt salinity, Coral Pro provides:
Alkalinity: 12.3–12.7 dKH
Calcium: 455–475 ppm
Magnesium: 1,360–1,420 ppm
Potassium: approximately 400 ppm
pH: approximately 8.2–8.5
These elevated parameters make Coral Pro particularly well suited for aquariums containing rapidly growing stony corals and other calcifying organisms.
Ideal for LPS, SPS & Coral Frag Systems
Coral Pro is an excellent choice for:
- Mixed reef aquariums
- LPS-dominated reef aquariums
- SPS coral systems
- Coral frag and grow-out tanks
- Tridacna clam systems
- High coral-density aquariums
- Reef aquariums with significant calcium and alkalinity demand
Its elevated foundation elements allow routine water changes to replenish a significant amount of the calcium, magnesium, and alkalinity consumed by growing corals.
Coral Pro vs. Standard Red Sea Salt
Coral Pro Salt is Red Sea's higher-alkalinity reef formula. At approximately 35 ppt, alkalinity is around 12.3–12.7 dKH, with calcium around 455–475 ppm and magnesium around 1,360–1,420 ppm.
Standard Red Sea Salt is formulated much closer to natural seawater, with alkalinity around 8 dKH at normal reef salinity.
Coral Pro is generally the better choice when elevated foundation elements and accelerated coral growth are desired.
Standard Red Sea Salt is generally better suited for reef keepers who maintain lower alkalinity and independently control calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium through a dosing system.
Complete Major, Minor & Trace Elements
Natural seawater contains dozens of major, minor, and trace elements. Coral Pro Salt provides a complete complement of these elements while maintaining the elevated foundation-element ratios required by demanding reef organisms.
Red Sea specifically formulates Coral Pro to maintain the relationship between calcium, magnesium, and carbonates rather than simply increasing each element independently.
Clean, Consistent Formula
Coral Pro Salt is manufactured without chemical binders and contains no intentionally added nitrate or phosphate.
Its low moisture content helps maintain consistency and reduces clumping when the salt is stored properly in a cool, dry location.

Mixing Instructions
Always prepare Coral Pro Salt using purified RO or RO/DI water.
Add the salt gradually to circulating water until the desired salinity is reached. Approximately 38.2 grams of Coral Pro Salt per liter of water is used to reach approximately 35 ppt under Red Sea's specified conditions.
Measure the finished salinity with a properly calibrated refractometer or other reliable salinity instrument before adding the new seawater to the aquarium.
Because Coral Pro contains elevated calcium and alkalinity, avoid excessive or unnecessarily prolonged mixing. Prepare the saltwater according to Red Sea's recommended mixing procedure and use once properly dissolved, aerated, and matched to the aquarium's desired temperature and salinity.
Important – High Alkalinity Formula
Coral Pro is intentionally a high-alkalinity reef salt.
Aquariums normally maintained near natural seawater alkalinity of approximately 7–9 dKH may experience an increase in alkalinity following large water changes with Coral Pro.
For aquariums maintained at lower alkalinity through automated dosing, two-part supplementation, calcium reactors, or other controlled supplementation methods, standard Red Sea Salt may be a better match.
