Sailfin Molly – Saltwater Acclimated
Scientific Name: Poecilia latipinna (Sailfin Morph)
Maximum Length: About 4–5 inches (males with tall, extended dorsal fins)
Description:
Saltwater-acclimated Sailfin Mollies are hardy, active algae grazers that adapt extremely well to marine aquariums once properly transitioned. These fish are known for their tall sail-like dorsal fin, constantly active behavior, and ability to help control film algae and light nuisance algae in reef and FOWLR setups.
They readily accept pellets, flake, algae wafers, and frozen foods. Saltwater-acclimated mollies tend to show brighter coloration—silvers, dalmatians, golds, blacks, and creams.
Best Buddies: Ideal for peaceful tanks with clowns, gobies, blennies, wrasses, and cardinals. Completely reef-safe and safe around corals. Avoid large aggressive fish that may bully small livebearers.
